Revenge of the beavers!!

Hello everyone! Hopefully you all still have ten fingers after the 4th of July weekend! I sure do, so we are all good here in MN. I really don't know how this post is going to come together, but I have decided to just write and see what happens! This past weekend started a little early for both Tiff and I as we were both given the opportunity to leave our respective offices a few hours early. Since we had plans to go to the Brewers-Twins game on Saturday night, we went out to the mall so I could get some new Brewers gear to proudly wear to the game! I have decided that I am allowed to have two favorite teams because they are in different leagues. Yes, we were going to be the conflicted couple at the game and where apparel from both teams! We had a good time just out walking and Addie was enjoying watching everything that was going on around us. Overall it was a pretty relaxing Friday night for us. Saturday we got up and had to go grocery shopping and to Babies "R" Us to get Addie some supplies. While we were in Sam's Club, Tiff's mom texted her that they were on their way to the cabin and there were tons of trees down from the storm that went through that area on Friday night. We just kept in touch with them as they drove to hear what happened at the cabin, and once they got there our plans for the weekend quickly changed! Once her parents got to the cabin, it took her dad about 4 hours of chainsaw work just to get a place cleared to get the car into our property. Well, we decided that the baseball game could wait for another time, went home packed the truck up, borrowed a couple of chainsaws from a friend, and headed up to the cabin to help cut up some trees. Little did we know that there were that many trees down. Most of the roads into the cabin were down to one lane and we had to weave in and out of fallen trees; it was a pretty wild sight. Once we arrived, I changed clothes and went right up onto the roof and started working. The first thing I had to do was get the broken chimney off the roof and then I was able to start clearing the trees from the roof. We worked until dark on Saturday night and got up bright and early Sunday and put another hard day of work in, but we are not even half way done with what has to be cleaned up. Tiffany's parents ended up doing some more work on Monday, but there is a ton to still get cleaned up. The worst part about the whole situation is that all the power lines going to the cabin were taken out with trees as well; and if you don't know much about having well water, when you don't have any power, you don't have any water!! The only solution to that problem was to go for a swim in the river, but there are a ton of weeds, so we got out the kiddie pool, filled it with river water on the dock, let it warm up for a couple hours, and then we had nice bath water!

We ended up coming home Sunday night, because we didn't want to cancel our plans with Mike and Jane for the 4th. We go out to Excelsior (right on Lake Minnetonka) with them to watch the MN Orchestra play a small concert and for the fireworks! It was amazing as always, the music was fantastic and the fireworks were a good 20 minutes long and entertaining. Addie enjoyed the orchestra and got completely off her sleep schedule in the process! She ended up sleeping right through a 21 gun salute, playing of taps, and the entire firework show! She is definitely a trooper.

Overall, we had a pretty good weekend full of hard work, but ended with a great firework show. This upcoming weekend we are headed back to the cabin for more lumberjack work and hopefully we can make another dent in the clean-up.

Until next time,

Love,

Trav, Tiff and Adelaide

Happy Birthday America!!

I'm not too sure of this flying thing yet!

This is how we found the cabin...

The garage minus four trees on top of it!

A side view of the garage before we cleared the tree.

I love the Orchestra, but we were a little too close to the speakers.
